Unexpected Poetry

Tue Nov 3, 2009, 12:42 PM
Well, I've just been discovering a new appreciation and enjoyment of poetry in this past month...(for complicated and strange personal reasons.) On a whim...Very unexpectedly, I started writing a few poems. I have a constant stream of stories, ideas, and thoughts that continually haunt my brain... so I thought - Why not get them out of me and into poetry? I have no idea what I'm doing when I sit down to write a poem... it kind of just comes to me. I mean, I've only written 3 so far, but, they are all made out of neural connections in my brain that keep repeating themselves. For a long time I've been thinking about writing memoirs, and I just might do that in my old age, when my children are grown. For now, however, poems seem the perfect outlet because I can make them short and concise...and they don’t take that long to write. So why not? ...Except that I have no experience writing poems, or even reading poetry... but when it comes to art... so what? Good, bad, or ugly, I refuse to limit myself. I can’t help but be inspired by the amazing poetry that I’ve been reading here on DA. It’s a whole new world for me.

I’m also getting ready to start a new painting. I decided to use more vivid color this time. I need to brighten up my living room. I’m very excited about this vision.

"It's the universe that makes fun of us all."
"Why would the universe that makes fun of us all?"
"I dunno, maybe it's insecure."
